From the City of San Diego's open permit data. It counts permits pulled under the company's own name; ADUs where a designer or the homeowner pulled the permit, and work in other cities, aren't included, so the true number can be higher.
Why they're listed as an ADU builder: ADU permits in the City of San Diego; ADU work described on its website.
Before you sign with Lars Remodeling & Design
- Ask for the license number on the contract. It should read #616035 and the business name should match LARS REMODELING & DESIGN.
- Keep the deposit small. For home improvement contracts California caps the down payment at $1,000 or 10% of the price, whichever is less.
- Ask for a certificate of insurance. The state shows workers' comp with EVEREST PREMIER INSURANCE COMPANY; ask for general liability too.
- Make sure they pull the permit. The contractor, not you, should apply for the building permit, so the city holds them responsible for the work.
